UPGRADE FOR PIVOTAL ROUNDABOUT

A MAJOR upgrade for a pivotal roundabout at Terrigal has been given the green light by the State Government following a Review of Environment Factors.

The roundabout, at the intersection of Empire Bay Drive, The Scenic Road and Cochrone Street will soon see work including:

* New footpaths, drainage and pedestrian activated traffic lights.
* Relocation of the stop line at Bridge Street closer to Empire Bay Drive to improve sight distance for motorists exiting Bridge Street.
* New keep clear signs to improve left and right turn movements out of Kerta Road
* Improved advanced warning signs to inform motorists of the pedestrian refuge near Kerta Road, and
* New line markings to divert motorists away from driveways along The Scenic Road and formalise areas for on-street parking.

Terrigal state Liberal MP Adam Crouch said project notification signs had been installed and investigation works were underway.

“The NSW Government remains absolutely committed to upgrading this vital intersection to reduce congestion and improve safety for the 25,000 road users who travel through it every single day,” he said.

The work is expected to start mid-year.
