Amazing rise and rise of Avoca Beashside Markets

DALLAS SHERRINGHAM
WHEN CCBA put out a request for ways to increase and promote tourism in our last edition, Brad Cardis from Avoca Beachside Markets was first to respond.
Brad and partner Bianca Cardis are well known on the coast for their innovative ideas provided through their company Fixx Events.

The Terrigal couple is involved in multi award winning event activation, place making, event ambiance and being creators. Their projects include Avoca Beachside Markets and the Christmas Fair and Interactive Space with Neon Garage Kincumber.

In short, they provide the kind of tourist attraction people want to experience.

Brad wrote:

“We saw your recent call out for tourism ideas and thought we would give you an update from an independent event and tourism operator’s view. We specialize in community events, place making and event creation.

“We conduct over 20 plus events per year and personally attract over 70,000plus visitors to Avoca Beachside Markets each year and 12,000 plus to our annual Christmas Fair.

“Almost all of our events are self-funded with some portions coming from council and sponsors who are generous in their support.

“We hope Affinity will be able to support independent operators like us who don't charge admission fee's to our events or rely on accommodation and tourist attraction to supplement incomes.

“Onwards and upwards we say and we are waving the flag locally to attract more events on the coast.”

A quick look at their web sites www.fixxevents.com.au and www.neongarage.com.au showed just how much their company has grown.

“Fixx Events and Marketing are a passionate, Central Coast business that has been involved in the event, music, festival, place-making and market industries for 22 plus years,” it read.

“Our company own and operate the multiple award winning monthly Avoca Beachside Markets, The Christmas Fair and Neon Garage Laneway Activation Space.

“We were and number 16 on the recent Central Coast 52 Local Secrets plus fan voted number three best market in Australia from Ilovemarkets.

‘We pride ourselves on delivering a smooth, well organized event and ecofriendly event and are passionate about creating a real buzz at your next event. Safety is paramount as is the quality and experience of market vendors on our 4500 plus database.

“Let us show you how we walk our talk and go above and beyond to create a strong impact for your next event. “

So, Brad and Bianca have set the bar for tourist events on the coast. It is now up to other operators to launch their own innovative ideas. The State Government is backing up this type of project with substantial grants available for regional tourist events.
